Seven Years In: What Zeytech Has Taught Me About Business, People, and What Actually Matters

I’ve taken on the role of President of Zeytech, Inc. I’m thrilled and terrified.

Where It All Began

In January of 2019, David Zey and I sat in our living room not far from downtown Green Bay and had a conversation that changed everything. We had seven young kids. I was homeschooling all of them. David was working incredibly hard at his job. Life was full, time was scarce, and we knew we wanted something different for both our family and our future.

So, we started Zeytech.

We “knew” what starting a business would require. We actually had no idea what starting a business would require. But we jumped in anyway, and seven years later, I’m so glad we did.

What Zeytech Does and Who We Help

Zeytech is an IT services company based in Green Bay, Wisconsin, serving businesses of all sizes and wherever they are in the world. Our team works across a broad range of technology needs.

Our clients are from every kind of industry and from all over. Our heart is in Wisconsin but our impact is much broader. We don’t believe good IT support should be reserved for one type of business.

The Thing I’m Most Proud Of

Seven years. A pandemic. Countless late nights, hard decisions, and honest conversations. And through all of it, the thing I’m most proud of isn’t something our team has accomplished, but what our team has become.

From the beginning, David and I believed that how a team treats each other is just as important as what they produce. So, we’ve invested heavily in personal and team leadership development to continuously improve how we communicate with one another, how we show up for our clients, how we handle conflict, and how we celebrate the wins and lean on each other through the hard stretches.

The result is a team that genuinely values each other. A healthy, positive culture where people do their best work not because they have to, but because they want to. A healthy team produces better work, builds stronger client relationships, and creates a business that lasts.

My Role and What’s Changing

I’ve been part of Zeytech since day one. David and I have made every major decision together, from hiring, strategy, culture, and growth.

What’s changing is the title, and with it, a more visible leadership role.

My background is a little unconventional for a tech company president. For the last seven years, alongside building Zeytech, I’ve also been raising and homeschooling our seven children. That work has taught me more about leading people than I ever realized it would, from how to develop individuals with different strengths and needs, how to navigate conflict with empathy, how to keep an organization moving through chaos, and how to stay focused on what matters most even when everything feels urgent.

Until recently I’d never thought about the things motherhood has taught me, or homeschooling has trained me to do, but I am so grateful for the education and training they have given me, better preparing me for a job like this than a traditional job could have. I bring that same people-first approach to Zeytech. My focus as President is on our team, with making sure they have the support, development, and environment they need to thrive, and on building the kind of company that our clients can genuinely count on.

Where We’re Going

Zeytech isn’t standing still.

We’re continuing to grow our capabilities across managed IT, cybersecurity, cloud services, and custom software development. We’re deepening our reach across Wisconsin by serving more businesses in need a technology partner they can trust. Also, we’re doing it by continuing to invest in the thing that got us here – our people.

My vision for Zeytech is a company where families come first, our team is confident in each other and what they can do, and our clients know they’re in capable hands.

We started Zeytech because we wanted something different. Seven years in, through all the hard and all the good, I can say with confidence: it was the right call.

I’m excited for what comes next for Zeytech. I look forward to connecting with others who believe that people matter, which is how good business happens.
